Chimney Rock is closing for about 30 days so road repairs can be done. The Chimney Rock State Park closing will take place before the end of this month. Heavy rains last spring resulted in the entrance road being damaged. Planned work includes a new retaining wall to protect the road in the future. Chimney Rock State Park about 25 miles south of Asheville. The almost 6000 acre park has hiking trails, waterfalls and beautiful views. Chimney Rock is a 315-foot rock formation that is a granite monolith that can be accessed. The view from Chimney Rock is breathtaking.
