NC fall foliage 2013 peak leaf colors are visible now in the highest elevations at and above 5,000 feet. The lower elevation areas near Grandfather Mountain, Sugar Mountain, and Beech Mountain have about 75 % of the trees showing color. At the 3,500 feet elevation areas of Boone and Blowing Rock almost half the trees are showing color. Colors this week are pretty but the NC fall foliage show should really be great the next 2 weekends (or from about October 18- 27). More south toward Asheville there is report of peak color change in 2-3 weeks time.
